David Hasslehoff: king of “Baywatch” certainly brings a better image of this actor than he actually presents now. Although the series was popular and finished a good few years ago, it certainly hasn’t been forgotten to this day. We can just picture the Baywatch Team in their red skimpy outfits and not to mention their bodies to die for.
We know David Hasslehoff not only as an actor but also as a singer, who started way before the collapse of the Berlin Wall (who doesn’t remember him in a leather jacket that was lit with small bulbs singing a song about freedom when it actually happened, when there was no Berlin Wall any more).
A bit older generation remembers his longish wavy hair and a big smile. But it was so long ago. Now it all belongs to the past. The actor has a serious problem with alcohol and quite recently we all have heard (and some of us seen) about an amateur video film recorded by his daughter showing him absolutely stoned and trying to eat a burger from the floor. That was a very sad and embarrasing view.
We don’t have to like him but it doesn’t stop us from feeling sorry for him that is just a simple human reaction. I am not sure how he reacted to this recording when he got sober, but I cannot imagine him being indifferent to what had happened.
On the other hand, what makes me think is why his daughter would want to record something like that? For money? For fame? I don’t think she needs either of them. Her dad is wealthy enough to be able to support his family and she is famous enough just for being David Hasslehoff’s daughter.
Certainly “Baywatch” made him famous and it probably is the best film or series production he has been in, although not the only one.
Now we can only hope that his personal problems will not overtake his life and he will still be able to amaze us in great productions, maybe not necessarily ambitious, but certailny catchy and popular with the audience.
