Celebrity Biography : Reese Witherspoon

Laura Jeanee Reese Witherspoon, otherwise known as Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1973 in New Orleans at Memorial Medical Center. Her Father, Dr. John Witherspoon was a military doctor and her mother, was a registered nurse. The first four years of Rees’s life were spent in Germany because her father was serving as a Lt. Col. In the Army Reserves. When he was finished with his tour, the family moved to Nashville Tennessee.  This is where Reese grew up. As Reese puts it, “I grew up in Tennessee. We didn’t know what Louis Vuitton was. I had to order all my prom outfits out of catalogs”.

That is a far cry from where she is now. Her movie career began early in life. She began modeling at the age of 7. From here she went on to appear in several local television shows. In 1990 Her role in Robert Mulligans “The Man on the Moon brought her great reviews. Bigger roles followed after that, including “Jack the Bear, and “A Far off Place.”

Reese put her acting career on hold in order to go to school after graduating from high school. She attended Stanford and attempted to major in English Literature.  It just so happened though that a few acting roles were offered to her, “Fear,” and “Freeway.” Reese took up these offers and ended up establishing herself as a rising actress I Hollywood.

Soon, bigger an better roles were coming her way. In 1998 there was “Pleasantville. In 1999 there was Election and Cruel Intentions, and then in 2001, there cam her ever famous role as Ellie Woods in Legally Blonde which forever made her one of the top female actresses in Hollywood. The following year she played opposite hunky Matthew Mcconaughey in Sweet home Alabama which made over $100 million at the theaters. Then, in 2006, Reese one herself an Oscar for her role as June Cash in the Epic Johnny Cash film, Walk the Line.

On a personal level, Reese Witherspoon married fellow actor Ryan Philippe in 1997. They had two children. Ava Elizabeth born September 9th, 2999, and a little boy named Deacon who was born October 23, 2003. In 2007 Philippe and Witherspoon filed for Divorce.

Coming up in the future, Reese has moved her production company, Type A Films, to Universal Pictures. She signed a two year deal with Universal and the studio picked up a romantic comedy for her to start in and produce.

Witherspoon has done a lot in her few years, but really she has just begun, only just begun. As she says “I was thinking about why I make movies, and I know why. Life is hard. It’s nice to go escape and have a good time at the movies. If I can give people a movie about hope, love and the future, then I’ve done my job.”

Celebrity Biography : Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson was born in Ballymena, Co. Antrim in Northern Ireland on June 7th 1952. He had various jobs before embarking on an acting career. He was a forklift operator, a truck driver, assistant architect and an amateur boxer. He attended St. Mary’s Teaching College in Belfast as he had wanted to be a teacher until he caught the acting bug. He trained as an actor at The Gaiety School of Drama in Dublin, Ireland.

In 1976, Neeson joined the Belfast Lyric Players’ Theater and made his professional acting debut in the play “The Risen People”. Neeson also gained a lot of acting experience in Dublin’s famous Abbey Theatre. The director John Boorman cast Neeson in the Arthurian film “Excalibur” after seeing one of his performances at The Abbey.

Neeson’s first lead role was in the movie “Darkman” in 1990. His breakthrough role came in 1993 in the movie “Schindler’s List” where he played Oskar Schindler. Neeson was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his role as Schindler. Neeson made his Broadway debut in the play “Anna Christie” in 1993 in which he co-starred with his future wife Natasha Richardson. He was nominated for a Tony award for his role in “Anna Christie”. Neeson and Richardson also co-starred in the movie “Nell” in 1994. Other notable Neeson movies were “Michael Collins”, “Rob Roy” and “Star Wars, Episode 1- The Phanton Menace.” He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of British Empire) in the 2000 Queen’s Millennium Honors List for his services to drama.

Natasha Richardson and Liam Neeson were married on July 3rd 1994 until her untimely death in a skiing accident on March 18th 2009. They had two children together, Michael Richard Antonio Neeson who was born on June 22, 1995 and Daniel Jack Neeson born on August 27, 1996.

Neeson is an honorary board member of the CDS (Conference of Drama Schools) in England. The board oversees all drama schools in England. Neeson auditioned for, and was accepted by, the Bristol Old Vic Drama School in England, but decided to attend the Gaiety School of acting instead so he could stay active with the Dublin Shakespeare Festival while in school.

Neeson has been quoted as saying “No, I don’t get obsessed with acting. Because in the past when I have got obsessed about it, it really got in the way of the creative process. I’ve learned to hang the character on the coat-peg at the end of the day, and when I leave in the morning I pick it up again. And I had to work at that because the other way lies a strange sort of madness”.
